The Maldives Immigration has successfully implemented an integrated system to automatically upload Stolen and Lost Travel Document (SLTD) information to INTERPOL’s global database. This system was enabled through an SLTD uploader solution provided by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Washington, USA.

INTERPOL’s SLTD database is an important tool in the fight against terrorism. It can prevent Foreign Terrorist Fighter (FTF) movement across borders by identifying and intercepting FTFs – and other transnational criminals – using stolen, lost or revoked travel documents such as passports and visas. This solution will enhance the existing border security capabilities of the Maldives and will contribute immensely to the global fight against terrorism and other transnational crimes.

This important accomplishment was achieved thanks to the collaborative efforts between Maldives Immigration, INTERPOL NCB Male’, INTERPOL NCB Washington and INTERPOL’s Project GEMINI team.

The Maldives Immigration appreciates INTERPOL’s role in sharing critical information for law enforcement agencies through its databases, which are essential to make the world a safer place. The Maldives Immigration will continue to work closely with all national and international agencies to provide the support needed for international cooperation, particularly in combatting terrorism and other transnational crimes.
