From 14 May 2023, eligible travellers arriving to attend a meeting, conference, or convention held in the Maldives may be granted a 14-day Meeting Visa on arrival, provided all entry prerequisites are met.

Effective from 14 May 2023, a 14-day on-arrival Meeting Visa may be granted to foreign nationals visiting the Maldives to attend a meeting, conference, or convention—subject to satisfying all entry prerequisites.

Entry Prerequisites
- The primary purpose of the visit is to attend/participate in a meeting, conference, or convention held in the Maldives:
- For permissible businesses accepted by the Registrar of Businesses; or
- For government/state use; or
- Arranged by other entities with approval from the concerned government authority.
- A complete travel itinerary including confirmed return tickets, a prepaid confirmed booking at a registered hotel, and proof of sufficient funds for the stay.
- Traveller Declaration filled and submitted electronically via IMUGA within 96 hours prior to flight time to Maldives.
- A passport or travel document with Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) and at least 1 month validity. (Passengers with extended validity in their passports are not allowed to enter.)
- Entry requirements to onward destinations (e.g., visa and passport validity).
Important Notes
- Meeting Visa is non-extendable.
- A Meeting Visa holder is not eligible to obtain a Business Visa while in the Maldives.
Admissibility & Legal Basis
Entry to the Maldives is not guaranteed even with a comprehensive travel plan (e.g., confirmed return tickets, prepaid confirmed accommodation, proof of sufficient funds). Under Sections 7 and 8 of The Maldives Immigration Act 2007, entry is permitted at the port of entry following an immigration officer’s determination of eligibility.
