Overview

A Dependent Visa is issued to immediate family members of expatriates in professional categories working in the Maldives.

Before Arrival (First-Time Entry)

  • Apply for a Sponsorship Declaration via the IMUGA portal at least 5 working days before arrival.
  • After arrival on sponsorship, apply for a Dependent Visa.

Documents Required

  1. Application Form (IM23)
  2. Passport-size photo (per Immigration photo standards)
  3. Passport copy (biodata page)
  4. Last arrival stamp (for new applicants)
  5. Last visa page (for renewals)
  6. Relationship proof document
    Documents proving the relationship with the sponsored person
  7. Medical report
  8. Health insurance
  9. Visa fee: MVR 750
  10. Card fee: MVR 50
  11. Additional documents (if applicable)

How to Apply

  1. Visit imuga.immigration.gov.mv
  2. Select “Visa”
  3. Sign in to the IMUGA portal
  4. Click “Apply for a Visa”
  5. Complete the prerequisite field to confirm whether you are currently in the Maldives
  6. Select visa type: “Dependent Visa” and choose the appropriate reason/subtype
  7. Fill in the application details
  8. Attach required documents
  9. Review and submit the application

Fees

  • Visa fee: MVR 750
  • Card fee: MVR 50

Important Notes

  • If an appointment is missed, reschedule via email [email protected] or contact hotline 9199157.
  • An appointment time will be provided via SMS to submit the passport for visa issuance.
  • When applying for Sponsorship Declaration, the stated purpose must be to bring in a dependent in order to qualify for a Dependent Visa.
